My Birthday Tradition – A Nature Celebration

Birthday Tradition

Imagine this…
An early morning
fog
filled
sky.
The gurgling sound
of water flowing past you.
The original sweet smell
of an unidentified wildflower wafting by.
A fawn
standing alone
on the bank of the creek
…as if to greet you.
The delicate
colorful
surprise
of the red winged blackbird
swooping across the water.

It’s the quiet solitude of floating down the Pine Creek.  It’s how I spend my birthday.  It’s the best birthday gift I give myself each year.  Sometimes it’s the only day we spend on the creek all year.

There’s no cell service.
No electricity.
No plumbing.

Bliss.
